What is STEAM?

Discoverer's Club

Children have a natural curiosity about how and why things work. Discoverer’s Club is a hands-on, project-based programme that helps children discover the why, where, when and how behind various concepts.

Mapped to the EVS syllabus of class 1 to 3, Discoverer’s Club breaks down the barriers between science, maths, engineering, arts and technology to help children better understand science and math concepts.

Children will be exposed to scientific thinking and processes such as questioning, making a hypothesis, investigating, observing, recording results and sharing their findings.

Learning Outcomes: The programme helps children deconstruct and remember scientific concepts of life science, earth science, physical science and math while developing their communication, creative thinking and problem solving skills. Concepts covered include Animals, Habitats and Adaptations; Sound; Matter and Energy; Measurement; and Time.

The programme has 3 modules:

  • Detective: In this module children employ the skills and techniques used by detectives to solve science and maths mysteries that they encounter every day.
    • Age group: 6 to 8 years
    • Duration: 1.5 hour sessions, twice a week. A total of 24 sessions.
  • Explorer: In this module, children go on imaginary journeys. En route these adventures, they perform tasks that apply science and maths concepts, like understanding the principles of buoyancy or exploring the solar system.
    • Age group: 6 to 8 years
    • Duration: 1.5 hour sessions, twice a week. A total of 24 sessions
  • Inventor: In this module, the children make new inventions and utilize steps of the scientific process to test them.
    • Age group: 6 to 8 years
    • Duration: 1.5 hour sessions, twice a week. A total of 24 sessions
