Launches two more schools in the city to help children become smarter, stronger and kinder
Sesame Street, America’s largest preschool educator, expanded its footprint in Pune with the launch of two more preschools at Pimple Saudagar and Hadapsar. Sesame Street Preschools are early childhood education centres that were set up by Sesame Workshop in India in the year 2012. The preschools offer innovative programmes for children aged 1-6 years to engage and learn.
Sesame Street Preschool already has a preschool in Pune at Wakad, launched last year, which has been well accepted by both parents and kids. This positive response inspired the organisation to launch two more schools in the city to address the early childhood education needs of young kids.
Parents and educators witnessed a gala affair at the launch of the two new centres in Pune. Various activities like free paint corner, art & craft activities, a photo booth with props and muppets, a gaming area, movie screening and exciting giveaways – all of which made it an enriching experience for children and their families.
Preschools are gaining popularity across India. With increasing nuclear families and working parents, well-planned preschools with creative curriculum are in demand. Parents are realising the need for preschools with a view to bringing world-class education and personality development practices for young children to build a strong foundation before starting primary school. Given the fact that preschools have a limited catchment area coupled with increasing demand in the market, Sesame Street Preschool decided to launch two more centres in the city.
The curriculum offered at Sesame Street Preschool goes beyond ABCs and 123s to instil the skills of ideation/ creativity, confidence, communication and collaboration – skills that are needed not just for school but for life. The endeavour is to change the paradigm in the preschool space making high-quality education, teaching standards and learning spaces accessible to Indian children.
Mona Singh, Vice President, Sesame Street Preschool says, “Sesame Street was built around a single, breakthrough insight; that if you can hold the attention of children, you can educate them. Our curriculum is based on over 45 years of research on how children learn, what engages them, and most importantly what ignites their desire to learn so that it becomes a lifelong habit. With the launch of two more preschools in Pune, we aspire to meet the educational needs of young children and help build their foundation for a successful future. Our curriculum and teaching methodology follow a unique six-step procedure towards teaching a concept to a child through introduction, recall, demonstration, reinforcement, reflection and application. We hope that the education imparted at the schools will influence this generation of kids to become global leaders of tomorrow.”
Sesame Street Preschool is currently present across 11 cities in India including Delhi, Ghaziabad, Dehradun, Alwar, Patna, Meerut, Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Pune, Bengaluru and Udaipur offering preschool programmes for 1 to 6 year olds including Beginners (Parent- Toddler Programme), Playgroup, Nursery, Prep I and Prep II. Furthermore, the preschools provide a set of after school programmes inculcating critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills. Few Sesame Street Preschools also provide Extended Day Care facilities which help in the child’s social and emotional growth in a fun-filled and supervised environment.
With presence beyond preschools, through Sesame Street, Galli Galli Sim Sim and Chamki ki Duniya television shows and presence on the digital space through www.galligallisimsim.com and www.sesamestreet.org, Sesame Street Preschool aims to provide a holistic educational experience to children.
